Prince charming rides up to you
Sweeps you off your feet
And carries you swiftly away
A very mellow and dreamy sunset.

Growing up as a young girl
Your head is filled with notions
Of prince charming and white horses
Of perfect endings and fairy tales.
What young girls of blooming intellect
Fail to understand is the concept of reality.
Boys aren't going to be prince charmings.
They won't come gallivanting up to you
On a majestic, radiant white horse
And sweep you off your feet
To live a happily ever after of bliss.

What young girls should be told
Is that they can dream and want perfection
In any one boys.
But they will act as they will
And won't change for you,
Nor should you want them to change.
Boys will be gross, rude and obnoxious.
They will rough-house and joke,
Belch and speak at inopportune moments
But girl's should not try to change them.
They should learn to accept their personalities.

What young girls should look for
Is for the boy who can be a boy
But know when to be sweet.
When to spend time with friends
and when to be with their girlfriend.
A boy who can still feel masculine
Handing a girl flowers and kissing her in public.
A boy who isn't going to change his behavior,
But knows when to be appropriate.

The boy will not ride a white horse
Or ask you out on a date with a poem.
He will not be as cute as your imagine
Or as perfect as you desire
But young girls should learn
That even though the boy they like
Isn't as perfect as they imagined
Or may have wanted.
that boy isn't real.
He is the real deal.
He is not perfect.
He never will be perfect.
But if he loves you.
If he makes you smile.
Hold onto him.

Reality isn't perfect.
But that's what dreams are for.
