I've gone beyond the bend.
Circled it,
Round and round again.
Walked where it twisted,
Stomped where it jagged,
Tripped in the holes,
And made myself mad.
Beyond the bend,
Beyond the stars,
After what my eyes
Can see afar.
Mountains to the west,
Desert to the east,
The north is cold,
And the south -
Très triste.
I am blue as I circle,
Red as I flop,
Green when I look,
And yellow when I stop.
Round and round I go,
Till I'm dizzy, so dizzy,
But I don't let it show.
Don't want them to know,
Don't think they'll care,
That I hesitate to choose a path.
I am scared.
What lies beyond?
Beyond, behind, further out
Than the Wild West?
I believe I'm not brave enough for this quest.
It's too illogical.
Why should I go,
To a place I don't know,
When I'm safe, here,
At home?
Word:
Curious.
And curiosity killed the cat.
The cat in the hat,
With red and white stripes.
He traveled afar,
And met all types.
That is what I want!
I want that adventure,
But I'm not courageous, yet.
Not willing enough,
I'm sure to bet.
But I'll go.
I'll risk it.
I'll go afar.
See what I can,
Raise up my bar.
And I'll go,
Where no child has gone before.
[line sixteen: très triste = very sad]
