I live in a dark cold place where the moon never comes out and the sun has
forbear to shine
Here in my place I think of how good you are to her and why you couldn’t be
that way when you were mine
I usually keep it all bottled up, but here, my hidden tears secretly fall to
the floor
I express my constant pain and how I really just don’t want to live anymore
I sit and look at a picture of us and instantly memories come fluttering
into view
The good –the bad- just every moment I ever spent with you
First our beautiful wedding day and the chorus of here comes the bride
Then the alcohol, the verbal abuse and all the time you lied
Our first child being born, that sweet little girl you held in your hands
The first time the harshness of your voice scared her and how she just
couldn’t understand
The happiness, the laughter, and the most romantic words you ever spoke
The emptiness, the disaster, and all the bad emotions you provoked
I wonder how you’d feel if you could seem me here, all curled up in a
depressed little ball
Guilt, anger, compassion-would you feel anything at all
A part of me thinks you’d save me, take me up into your arms
Hold me, tell me I’ll be okay, and you’ll never again cause me harm
But deep down I know its over and you’ve made it clear that you don’t care
Still I wonder what happened to us and the bond we used to share
We once were so connected but now we’re torn apart
It’s easy on my mind but terrible to me heart
I was in love with you, inside me there is no doubt
But now I’m realizing that just because you fall in love, doesn’t mean you
can’t fall out
It is no reason to stop living and give up another day
So when the darkness comes around I’ll just tell it to go away
I will no longer wait for the sun to shine
Because I have given you your light, your glory, and now it is time to claim
mine
