His gleaming,
four-eyed sneer
bit maliciously
at my forehead.
He asked me what
I was staring at.
As if his
munching curiosity
had made a meal
of my thoughts,
I was at a loss
for an answer.
"She's a vegetable,"
he announced to everyone
at the dinner table.
Their laughter
still
eats at me.
