Your Path

We stood at a crossroads one day
You held the map, never telling me the way
You knew where you were going
You always kept it that way

You took your paved road and mine the rough
My questions unanswered, my soul became tough
But soon your road went unkempt and pot-holed
Like the darkness of your very soul

Or lack thereof

It must be lonely on your path of lies
With its empty promises and dismal skies
With your shiny things bought with the blood money
And with the love you pay for time after time

Secrets and deceit are your family crest
And of those traits, I admit you are the best
So take your path and I’ll take mine
And we’ll see whose honor comes through in the test.
