I watch couples at the laundromat
With a child or three under their wing
I think “I could have done that”
Then I laugh at the thought of that thing
I watch young families in the grocery
Bored with their boring lives
They don’t have to deal with the mystery
Or the cover stories I’ve had to contrive
I watch soccer moms getting their hair fixed
Complaining about junior’s sports and grades
They don’t appreciate the glorious mix
The husband, the kids or the life, they have it made
I get angry at the moms
Who clearly don’t care
Their think their life is funeral solemn
Or that “honey” doesn’t care
I could have done that
In their face I want to scream
Maybe I still have time
Or maybe it’s a pipe dream
