Cloudy today, but still humid...
The sticky feeling from yesterday
still lingering on the sunkissed hairs on my arms.
The grass still laying limply,
in every which way direction,
From our footsteps, running this way and that,
Dodging the on slaughter of water balloons.
I can still hear the laughter and screams
of my friends on the small breeze
Hitting the wind chimes.
I still see the fireflies
Flickering for a moment
only for the instant
I close my eyes:
The ones I traded a glowstick for.
so high in the trees now.
...I forgot how high they could go.
With the locus
buzzing on the branches
who witnessed the lazy,
carefree,
childlike days of summer.
