A Memory of Danger

It is something in the greenness of nature,
In the wilds of our minds,
A feeling, a memory, of danger,
Something creeping up from behind.

That was the feeling when I first met you.
The light from your eyes shone through your hair,
Something quiet and untamed, totally new.
This was the feeling when I first met you.

Sleek and refined, like a leopard reclined,
That feeling of danger from you- quiet stranger.
Yet in spite of the danger you were incredibly kind.
It intrigued me; you seemed something totally new.

As I researched and my knowledge grew
And I found, more and more,
That I'd been entranced, been bewitched- by you.
All this I thought when first I met you.
