But What of War

Shipped off soon overseas to fight

Landing on the base in the dark of the night

Tomorrow he will fight and truly risk his life

For the love of his country, daughter and wife

Sicken with fear of what the future will bring

He looks down to his arm to find a pair of wings

The exact same tattoo is placed on his love

"Together Forever," a banner on the wing of the dove

He closes his eyes as a tear falls down

Then in the dead of the night he hears a sound

He hops to his feet but he finds no use

Wanting to make sure to help anyone in the abuse

But all he can see is blood covering every tent

"Why is this how my last day on earth is spent?"

He runs as fast as he can as the sparks fly by

Not trying to watch as his brothers die

He shot the man on the left then to the right

Not letting any of the enemy out of his sight

Hours seem to pass as the smoke clears away

Finally it stops and he's at a lost of words to say

Looking onto the ground, his heart did sink

Falling to his knees as he tried to think

Yet once again he's a little to late

Staring into the eyes so full of hate

With one little movement his heart collapsed

Lifting up his hand, the ring, he last grasped

But the damage was done as his head hit the floor

Thinking of his family for just once more

The man full of hate did the most surprising thing

Shutting the fathers eyes then he began to sing

But what of war and all of it's extermination

Just because of all these men and their determination

To keep their families and country safe and sound

But their is no peace is war is anywhere around
