Summer Wish

Last day of school
I know, what a relief
Summer is almost here
The school year gone

Walking out the doors
You let out a sigh
The school year is over
And you say your goodbye

There was a handful of great people on my team
Some of them I won’t see much next year
But either way, I’ll keep in touch
Next year will not keep us apart

I’ll miss a great deal of those people
The ones that always make me smile
The ones where I feel safe around
My heroes

I’ll tell you that you’re one of them
One of the people I’ll miss dearly
You’ve opened up my eyes
And you’ve opened up my soul

When I get home from the last day of school
I go inside, drop my bag on the floor
Leave it there on my way to the back
Knowing I won’t need it anymore

When I take a walk outside
I soak up everything around me
The fresh green grass, the birds singing their song
What a wonderful place to be

Picking up a dandelion from the ground
I twirl it in my fingers
Determining what will be
My wish

Suck up the air into your lungs
Hold your breathe just a moment
Let all the air out
The seeds fly everywhere

What did I wish for?
Well I can’t tell you, or it won’t come true
But I can tell you one thing
That I was thinking about you
