An Ancient Battle
My heart, my sword
My soul, my shield
I enter now, into this ancient battlefield
As ancient as time and space
In this battlefield, a battle which we all face
Before this battle, my life was whole
Before this battle, my life was my own
Before this battle, I had all my pieces
Before this battle, I haven't faced the sieges
Stepping out into the scorched and barren landscape
There I wait
There I built my castle, my defences were strong
But for them to crumble, didn't take very long
I watched and watched at the others around me
Planning out this grand strategy
I saw many fail, I saw many prevail
Then entered this one female
She came to my castle, bearing gifts and gold
Little did I know what this Trojan Horse did hold
Slowly but surely, my defences came down
Slowly but surely, I started to share my crown
My shield became hers, my sword as well
Little by little, my defences did fell
I gave her my best I gave her my all
I promised her, that I would never let her fall
She promised the same to me, the battle half over
She became my life, my love
The hand which held my shield so high above
The sheath that protected my sword, with a gentle cover
We watched in my castle, our castle which I built so strong
My castle was our haven, forever hers I sang a song
The battle was in my favor
I thought for sure I would never quiver
For days, weeks, and months we enjoyed our time
But now, I shall face the full wrath from this love of mine
The Trojan Horse set free her weapons
I look for shield and sword, and started asking questions
The battle was quick, the casualties high
My castle that once was so strong and mighty, the rubble there it lie
I was not willing to give up this love I found in her
But now everything is a blur
I was backed into a corner, there I made my stand
I told her that we were meant for each other, hand in hand
Just like the Battle of Thermopylae there I gave it my all
But just like the story, my defences did fall
My heart, my sword
My soul, my shield
I have entered this ancient battlefield
As ancient as time and space
In this battlefield, a battle which I have faced
I lay on the ground, broken and twisted
My shield scorched, my sword broken
I look to the sky above, I see her smile
Then that smile, faded with each passing mile
I lay there crying over the pain of the mortal wound
The memories of the battle in my mind gloomed
I pick up my shield, to clean and tend
I pick up my sword, broken in two I will try to mend
