As I walk the path into the darkness,
And the lump in my chest travels up into my throat,
My hands become numb;
Vision becomes tunneled;
Everything around me vanishes as my my walk tries to catch up to me.
The darkness is too bright...
The burden is too heavy...
There is no way out of this feeling I am in.
Stopping, sobbing,
Feeling of falling,
My eyes are pasted shut as I take another step;
That feeling becomes real,
And I plunge below, to meet the ground...
Awake now,
I must take that first step
Towards the closet to find my suit.
I dust off the coat and put it on.
As I leave for the funeral home,
A familiar feeling resurfaces
Now walk the path into the building.
I am falling again'
And the feeling is more than real...
I just can't wait to hit the ground!
