I am going to sit right down
And write a few lines for you
For you are the words in my head
The words that won’t come out of the mouth
Flowing only from the tip of my pen

In this life, I will never know
The feeling of your skin touching against mine
Of having my arms around your waist
For in this life they would only be in your way
The taste of your lips when they are pressed to mine
A million reasons to say yes, but only a few to decline

In this life it is too late but in the next I promise to wait
Wait until someone comes along just like you
Someone comes along that is just like me

To be there before the sadness starts
To never let you down, to never let you frown
No more sleepless nights no more daily fights
To hold you in my arms, close by my side
Free from harm, feeling safe inside
