When the Dust Settles

A warpath leads to where I am
Sitting on a hill that is my life
I can still remember how great things used to be
Now the world is a scary place
My father always said God would save us
But I now know that was a lie
This horrid fickle world is falling apart
God is not here
The clouds are beginning to move
In an almost soothing motion
Maybe they will part to reveal a bright sun
Or a dark moon
The last thing I remember anyone telling me
At least when I was still listening
Is that when the dust settles
We'll still be here
The ups and downs of life may turn into a cloud of dust
But when it passes
It will reveal something new
Change.
