Late at night
I stand alone
Staring deeply into the dimly lit sky
Wandering down to the crystal clear water below
Cascading over rocks and litter
Always on the run
The sun sets down
The moon comes up
Maybe I should toss a coin in for luck
My pockets are empty
Except for your chain
You gave it to me 'cause you couldn't explain
Why you had to go
Just then I saw your reflection in the running river
And my spine couldn't help but shiver
So I took the chain and then delivered
To the always constant, wild river
I walk to the other side and then to the store
To buy a water bottle
So I could go back once more
I unscrewed the lid and let the water flow
I said thank you river
I hope you never slow
Then the river said
Hey boy don't you worry
This thing called love don't be in a hurry
It'll come to you when you least expect
And trust me when I say
There'll be no regrets
