Paint Me As I Am

Don't try to change me
I am who I want to be
I'm different from you
But I'm really sick of caring
Paint me as I am

I used to try to be like you
I only wanted to be accepted
But I've given up on trying to be who I'm not
I'm not afraid anymore
Paint me as I am

You all laugh at me because I'm different;
I laugh because you're all the same
Stereotypes are only teenage drama factors
You don't realize that we're all people, we all have feelings
Paint me as I am

I sometimes wish the world was blind
You wouldn't be judged by what's outside
But only what's in your heart
No barriers would exist in this shallow, sad world
Paint me as I am
