*I had two ideas for this poem, that flowed as I went along, though they can
actually be the same poem. I split them up, as if they are two points in
time, or two different thoughts. Anyways, have fun.*

The little girl chasing butterflies
And making friends, when no one knew her
Eating smores at half past nine
And thinking about the future
Little girl, sitting down
With Mom to read a book
Little girl, a novelty
Down to every tiny nook
Little girl free to roam
The playgrounds of her class
Little girl, notices
The whispers as they pass
Next year the little girl grows
And the little girl hears
The thoughts they think about her
And the words echo in her ears
Little girl blocks
The bad things from her mind
Little girl makes some friends
For one last modest time
Little girl all grown up
This little girls odd
They think they know this little girl
Her brothers, Ma, and Pa
Little girls somehow changed
After all these days
Ma forgot to read to her
And let her slip away
Pa forgot to talk to her
And I forgot to say
Please sister, dry these tears
Don't kill yourself, today

Little girl, all grown up
Little? Maybe not
But grown this little girl lives
The mystery shes taught
Little girl in her room
Thinking about the future
She only wished in high school
That maybe someone knew her
Little girl's thoughts askew
But I can hear them out
Little girl, cry to me
And let your hurt come out
Little girl swinging
On the playground, with her Mom
Little girl singing proud
Each halfly spoken psalm
Little girl reads a book
Little girls mind is free
Little girl loves her Pa
Little girl, please love me
Little girl makes her way
Down the dirty street
I should have made her come back home
I should have been more discreet
And now I am the one to blame
Forgotten love and shame
But I can take my punishment
And I shall not complain
Little girl I love you
No matter who you are
Swining form the playground
As I look on, from afar
Little girl, I love you
Through your still soaking eyes
Come with me, and dry your tears
While chasing, butterflies
