I step into the sunlight
With not a care past through my head
I think of dreams, just floating by
So early, woken from my bed
I sit in awe and marvelousness
Of such an elegant place
I wish you were there to see me
And the look upon my face
The look upon the birds
As they drifted swiftly through
They wave to me and chirp to me
Oh, if I only knew
Just what birds are thinking
And what they'd say to me
Oh, if I was a bird, I know
I'd laugh so playfully
I'd look upon the robots
About to drive to work
Complete their routine, one more day
It'd give me one big smirk
Oh I'd wave my wings in arrogance
For I can fly away
But you must waste the world
To travel you must pay
I'd chirp a laugh so loud
That all the birds may hear
And come, to laugh, upon that boy
Whose life is so unclear
Without a knowing, where to go
He continues, day by day
Go to school, and then to work
Just the same as yesterday
But I am not a bird
And I don't ever plan to be one
Though flying, laughing, at someone
Just might make it much more fun
The carelessness and carefree spirit
That makes the bird so free
I'd love to be that bird, oh yes
But now you laugh at me
"You fool you cannot be a bird
Stop your dreamer's dreams"
But am I such a fool, you think?
To think of happy things
I wish, I wish, that I could fly
Though that may seem obsurd
So careless, lively, free at last
I wish I was a bird
