Innocence

I don’t believe in innocence
I don’t believe in love
I don’t believe in righteousness
Or a god above
I choose not to be naive
I’ve seen a world to dark
I have to expect the worse
So the truth won’t break me apart
Violence, drugs and sex
Are more prominent than not
Once you experience the thrill of it all
In a tangled web you’re caught
Rape, murder, infidelity
Everyday life for most
About the things they’ve done
Corrupted children boast
Heroin and one night stands
The pleasant candies of today
What is wrong with society?
How did we end up this way?
I’ve seen it all
And done a lot
In a tangled web
I was caught
Tempted by forbidden fruit
My morals drift away
Instant pleasures fill my time
Innocence not able to stay
