A Life so Short

The doctors say there is little time
A childs body lays on the line

A couple months left to live
But yet he still has much to give

Chills run down his little bald head
Steralized blankets lay on his bed

A needle punctured through his wrist
Tears run down his cheeks once kissed

The army inside him trys to fight
But still he seems to sweat all night

Scary dreams swim through his mind
In a couple days he'll be left behind

The future of his life he'll never see
What he would really come to be

He'll never know how real love feels
Or how to fall head over heels

A coloring book lays on his chest
But weakness forces him to rest

His eyelids close more each day
But still he has the urge to stay

At the age of 5 his hands are still
His fingers pale his face so ill

His life flashes before his eyes
laying beside him his parents cry

They hold his hand upon their chest
When a piercing noise leads him to rest

At so young his world so small
But yet his soul grew so tall

The strongest child I'd ever seen
How had the world been so mean?

The family, the friends will all come together
They promise to continue to love him forever

We will all meet back in the end
Together we will be family and friends

We promised to never forget the deceased
Until we all rest in peace
