Trust
Such a simple word
Yet one of the hardest things to do
To trust someone
you must give them your all.
You must let them have a part of yourself
And then you expect almost nothing in return.
Trust
The one thing that I can not give
The hardest thing for me to let go.
Trust
another five letter dirty word.
Once given
It is always abused.
The person you expect the most
To keep all your secrets, your sins
The person you believe that will never harm you
In all the ways that you have been before.
You give them this trust
This package of yourself to hold and carry with them
Yet there it is
Unwrapped
Unraveled to its fullest extent
Open for the world to see
Hurt pounding in your chest.
The one you trusted the most
Just betrayed you
So why trust?
Why give so much of yourself
And not expect something in return?
Why leave yourself vulnerable to hurt?
Trust
The one thing I gave
and will never so easily again.
Trust is what you must work for.
Trust is what I must be able to do with you.
Will you take the time to let me trust you?
