Afternoon sun shines, shows dust in the air
These rays of light highlights your hair
But I wouldn't know because I'm not there
Am I on your mind or do you just not care

What was this thing that made you leave
Was there something that you didn't receive
This is just so hard for me to conceive
Was I over confident or just naive

Slowly these years creep past
and the sun's shine becomes over cast
The summer months will contrast
the cold winds that blows the sails on my mast

I know that you still wear that ring
And you still carry my heart by its string
It's been that way since you left in the spring
And without I can't seem to do anything

This is the way that I feel since you have gone
I shied away from you and now happiest has withdrawn
I'm screaming your name out on my front lawn
And in the beach's sand I love you's are drawn

I want you back here in my embrace
so you can put the light back into this place
the memories of you I can't erase
the feelings in my heart I can't replace
