What merits faith I do not know
Does faith require trust?
Is faith in a car when you want to go
If the engine is filled with rust?

Do I have faith in you, you ask
But I don’t know if I should
Is there something else behind that mask
Of purity and good?

I hope that what you say is true
But action is more than a word
And if I take time to put faith into you
Is that really all that absurd

My faith in you is very strong
But I still have a doubt
Past over present for so very long
I just cannot figure you out

If I can read you from the past
I’ll up and walk away
If you have more that I don’t know
Then I can sit and stay

You may think my faith in you
Is on a downward slope
But all I need an answer to
Is my faith only hope?
