You hang bravely from a branch
Secure within your walls of green
Everyone who sees you is put in a trance
As dull and boring as you seem

From time to time I stand amazed
You stay there waiting to unfold
For so many hours and so many days
Till you can reveal your colors, true and bold

Then one day through the rain
I see a burst of rainbow and beauty
And all of the comments that caused you pain
Are meaningless, and you are truly

The most beautiful butterfly I have ever seen
Even within your walls of green.
