Who Am I?

I saw a man who didn’t know
Didn’t know just where to go
Didn’t even know just where he was

I looked at him; he looked at me
We smiled together, a hopeless glee
Hopeless glee is pleasant all the same

This man lost his sense of self
Or simply stored it on a shelf
He wants it all but nothing is enough

I asked him what I failed to see
“But I love her, and she loves me”
“But you don’t even know just who you are”

He’s throwing away all he knows
On a chance to see where it goes
Losing all he is, and is this love?

I’m disgusted by what I heard
Simply repulsive, every word!
A one in a million shot and you have to ask!

He got angry I could see
But this has nothing to do with me
And now I see the pain inside his eyes

When I saw it, I felt a tear
I was talking to a mirror
This was just a different side of me
