A Single Red Rose

A single red rose
Haunts my mind
I'm an emotional slave
To a dying bind
A single red rose
I hold in my hands
I crush it within
Until it is dead
As I grip the dying bud
With all of my might
It bleed through my fingers
Blood as dark as night
A single red rose
I cut from the vine
To touch the stem
You bleed the color of wine
Within a single red rose
Lies dark mortality
A symbol of love
My mark of death
My memorial
Of my one last breath
A single red rose
Caused me to bleed black
A single red rose
Caused me to crack
In a straight-jacket
I spent my years
Crying and dying
Drowning in tears
Every corner turned
There lies a red rose
Everywhere looked
My pounding heart froze
Friends and family
Disappearing all around
Afraid for myself
I hit the ground
Lifting my eyes
The last thing I see
Is a single red rose
A single red rose
Resting atop of me
A thorny green vine
Bearing a single red rose
Climbing and growing
The height of a stone
The stone is broken
And the grass grows high
It bears a name
And the name is mine
