The blade

I said I wouldn’t but I did it again.
I sat on the bathroom floor,
A tear dripped off my chin,
I had to do it once more.

I held the knife in my hand,
I asked myself, should I?
But it was more than I could stand,
I told myself, don’t cry.

I slid the blade across my thigh,
And watched it bleed.
I wiped my eyes dry,
I had fulfilled my need.

The pain went away,
As I sat there on the floor.
I knew it would return another day,
As I watched the blood drip once more.
