O’ jolly morning! Another fine day!
Strap on me boots, and I’m on me way.
The door it will open, the sign it will turn
The color of amber as coals start to burn
I tie on me apron; I slip on me gloves
I open the windows to hear from the doves
O’ passed me lord who came only to say…
“O’ jolly morning! Another fine day!”
I’ll go to me coals and I’ll give them more air
I feed them for heat; this is only fair
I’ll go to me anvil, secure to the ground
Pick up me hammer, and I start to pound
The metal white hot… from me air filled coal
It could be a sword and it could be a bowl
But I’ve got me orders, I will satisfy
Even if the heat be blistering and dry
Sometimes the work… I don’t want to do
I want to sleep in; sometimes this be true
But when these ill feelings come ‘round I just say
O’ jolly morning! Another fine day!
