The Boy who Opened my Eyes

In my own arrogance and state of mind
I found myself amidst a sea of negative light
How can one person make a difference in the fight?
This is what shielded me, scratching me blind

People are never satisfied, no matter how much they collect
Never once does hunger knock on their door
The unavailability of education, doesn’t reach their core
Their own personal satisfaction is all they expect

Then through the glasses that lay your eyes
The blue that gives and cares for humanity
The only pure form of sanity
A sense of clarity and purpose arises

If everyone believes, and gives selflessness a try
We share our prosperity with thoughs who cannot
Forget how society conformed us, what we’ve been taught
No longer will we wake up and question, why?

I give the boy’s gift of knowledge, of a new day
For you to see once again
How we can make civilization bend
I leave it up to you, appreciate what you have today

Join me in this blissful path
But if you choose to turn the other cheek
Watch out, for the future is dark and bleak
